F1 teams back plan to cut Grand Prix distances in 2027

Formula 1 teams have unanimously backed a modest reduction in Grand Prix distances for 2027, paving the way for shorter races as the championship grapples with the energy-management challenges created by its new-generation power units. The change is designed to address a practical problem that emerged after the sweeping overhaul of F1’s power-unit regulations for 2026.
