The Alpine-contracted Australian was due to participate in Friday’s first practice session as part of the team’s two mandatory 'rookie' runs, but compatriot Jack Doohan, son of MotoGP champion Mick, is said to have been sounded out about filling the seat if Piastri is unavailable.
