Testing Day 1: Verstappen tops the timesheet, Mercedes struggle
Max Verstappen has topped the timesheets after the first day of testing in preparation for the 2021 Formula 1 season. In the process, the Dutchman posted over 130 laps in what was a positive day for the Red Bull team. In contrast, Mercedes experienced a difficult morning with Valtteri Bottas posting just six laps. Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton sat in the cockpit this afternoon but he didn't have an incident-free session either. The Dutchman completed both the morning and afternoon session. His fastest lap of the day was recorded on the medium tyre. The hard tyre was the most popular choice of compound around the Bahrain International Circuit during Day 1. Only briefly did we...
