Carlos Sainz Jr. gets penalty after impeding Alexander Albon

McLaren's Carlos Sainz has been handed a three-place grid penalty for the Canadian Grand Prix after impeding Toro Rosso's Alexander Albon during Q1. Albon had allowed Sainz to pass him going into the final chicane whilst the Spaniard was on a hot lap. Albon then preceded to go onto a hot lap but the British-Thai driver was impeded by Sainz going slower on the racing line into Turns 1 and 2. Despite the hold-up, both Albon and Sainz made it through the session. Stewards investigated the incident after qualifying and had found Sainz guilty of holding up the Toro Rosso driver, earning himself a three-place grid penalty.
