Why did Norris head to Portimao from Madrid?
Lando Norris swapped his McLaren Formula 1 car for the team’s new MCL-HY Hypercar as he completed his first full test of the car at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão. Just one day after the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, the reigning Formula 1 World Champion travelled to Portugal to join McLaren’s endurance programme as the team continues preparations for its return to the top class of the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2027. Norris completed 38 laps of the 4.653-kilometre circuit, covering approximately 177 miles (285 kilometres) during the one-day test.
