It was a bittersweet Saturday for McLaren, while their rookie driver Lando Norris was the star of qualifying newcomer Carlos Sainz had a disappointing debut with his new team who are banking on him to fill the big shoes of fellow Spaniard Fernando Alonso. Sainz seemed to have the upper hand throughout practice but in qualy he hit traffic on his fast lap which was compromised as a result.
