Formula 2 runner-up Alexander Albon has split with Nissan, opening the door for a seemingly imminent move to Toro Rosso in Formula 1, with the Faenza-based team still having an open seat. Albon had already been announced as Nissan's Formula E driver next to Sebastien Buemi, but with interest from Toro Rosso mounting, the Thai-British driver opted not to take part in testing for the Japanese team.
