Wolff: Mercedes started 2027 F1 project ‘before the summer’

Toto Wolff has revealed that Mercedes is already deep into its 2027 Formula 1 project, with resources being directed towards next year’s car well before the sport’s summer break. The move underlines just how dramatically the team’s fortunes have changed. After years of wrestling with the ground-effect regulations, Mercedes has hit the sweet spot with its 2026 challenger and built a formidable 145-point lead in the Constructors’ championship.
