Honda engine ‘lottery’ leaves Aston Martin drivers nowhere

Aston Martin arrived at Zandvoort with Honda’s promising new power unit bolted to the back of the team’s recently updated AMR26 chassis, hoping the combo might finally give Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll something resembling a competitive Formula 1 car. Alas, the revamped package proved disappointing in terms of performance based on Saturday’s qualifying results. Both drivers were dumped out in Q1, with Alonso 18th and Stroll 19th, leaving the team’s highly anticipated upgrade package looking rather less transformative than the hype surrounding it in Hungary suggested....
