Button punished for Maldonado collision

Jenson Button has been handed a time penalty and penalty points following the Chinese Grand Prix after being blamed for causing the collision that led to Pastor Maldonado's retirement. The Englishman was disputing 12th place with the Venezuelan when he misjudged his braking into turn one and struck the rear-end of the Lotus, turning Maldonado into a spin before he pitted into retirement. The incident drew the wrath of the stewards, with Button levelled with a five second penalty at the end of the race, enough to demote him from 13th to 14th behind Carlos Sainz.
