We were too ambitious, admits Whitmarsh

McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh has admitted that McLaren was "too ambitious" during the design phase of its 2013 chassis, with the outfit choosing to overhaul the race-winning MP4-27 chassis in search of a much larger development curve. Having struggled for outright pace over the course of the first five races, Whitmarsh now concedes that the team would have been wiser to evolve the package it had at the end of last year, but is confident that it can overcome its current struggles.
