Verstappen 'just tried to stay calm, tried to stay close'
Max Verstappen clinched his seventh Grand Prix victory of the 2022 world championship, the Red Bull driver having a surprisingly easy run to the finish after chief rival Charles Leclerc crashed out on lap 17. Verstappen had tried to take the lead from Leclerc at the start but the pole sitter was able to rebuff his attacks. Even when the Ferrari failed to pull out of DRS range, Verstappen was still unable to make his move stick. In the end Verstappen had to back off in order to protect his tyres from graining.
