Shortly after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton's fans started a petition to make the Briton the champion of 2021. At first the petition didn't seem to be very successful, but almost three weeks after the all decisive race some people signed the petition. Hamilton lost the world championship after a controversial race. In the closing stages Michael Masi decided to restart the race behind the safety car, allowing Max Verstappen to overtake the Brit on fresher tyres.
