When the news came out that Sauber might be taken over by Andretti Autosport Colton Herta was mentioned as well. The IndyCar-driver could quite easily make the switch to Formula 1 at that moment, since he has a contract with Andretti. Herta says at RACER.com that he was free to make a choice. After the United States Grand Prix it was reported that the deal was cancelled and so Herta's chances in Formula 1 were suddenly over.
