A milestone win for Honda in Mexico City
The Mexican Grand Prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez will always hold a special place in Honda's history. On this day in 1965, the venue was the scene of the Japanese manufacturer's maiden win in F1, delivered by Richie Ginther after a dominant flag-to-flag triumph at the wheel of the RA272. The historical milestone was the American driver's first and only Grand Prix victory, but it was also the very first triumph for American tyre supplier Goodyear in Formula 1.
