Mercedes explain Hamilton's earlier than expected pit stop

Article To news overview © Mercedes Lewis Hamilton started the Italian GP on Hard tyres in an attempt to run longer than his rivals, however Mercedes Chief Strategist James Vowles explained that strategy was quickly abandoned once it became clear he wouldn't be fast enough to keep up with the likes of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo following their pit stops. The Briton started the race in P4 after a disappointing performance in Sprint Qualifying, falling down the order after being slow off the line.
