Article To news overview © Mercedes Paul Di Resta thinks the World Championship could have been getting away from Mercedes, had Lewis Hamilton not been fortunate to recover ground in Imola after sliding off the track. The Brit finished second at Imola, a lucky recovery after the red flags allowed him to unlap himself after sliding off and hitting the barriers while trying to chase down Max Verstappen. The red flags came out after a crash between Valtteri Bottas and George Russell, meaning Hamilton was able to reset and recover back to minimise the damage from his error.
