Norris had been on a fast lap in Q1 when he came across a pack of slow-moving cars at the final chicane, one of which was Mazepin, who despite being informed that the McLaren driver was behind, decided to stay ahead. Being stuck behind Mazepin’s car meant Norris lost a few tenths and forced him to run an extra set of Soft tyres to ensure he got through to Q2, something the Briton said “cost me” later in the session.
