First free practice is half an hour of silence: Rain ruins chance of action
The first free practice session for the Eifel Grand Prix has been postponed by at least half an hour. Time is ticking, but the helicopter cannot take off, so drivers are not allowed on the track. For Mick Schumacher and Callum Ilott it is a loss, as they would make their F1 debut at the Nurburgring. When the Nurburgring was announced on the F1 calendar for October 2020, the weather conditions were already expected to be wet and cold. On Friday morning it was therefore wet and foggy. Even so foggy that the FIA decided to delay the start of the first free practice session by half an hour. Therefore, the drivers will have a maximum of one hour to train in VT1.
