Leclerc: Vettel deserved pole position

Japanese Grand Prix – Charles Leclerc admitted that he was unable to compete with Sebastian Vettel's pole position time in Suzuka. With Mercedes leading the way in the Friday free practice sessions, Ferrari looked to have their work cut out to respond to their rivals' pace. They looked more competitive in the early stages of qualifying, albeit with Leclerc initially looking more likely to take pole position. However, two strong laps from Vettel in Q3 were good enough to take pole position, with Leclerc falling short by two tenths of a second.
