FIA opens tenders for more standardised F1 parts

The FIA has opened tenders for standard brake parts and wheel rims for Formula 1 teams from 2021. Formula 1 owners Liberty Media and the FIA have been working with teams regarding the next regulatory cycle, which is due to come into effect in 2021. Both the sporting and technical regulations are due to be extensively overhauled and one key aspect being addressed is cost, with senior figures keen to introduce standardised components for teams where there are now minimal performance gains. The tenders issued cover the years 2021 to 2024 though could also cover 2025 depending on the outcome of the commercial discussions that are still ongoing.
