Qualy: Hamilton beats Vettel to pole – for now

Lewis Hamilton bagged pole position for the Brazilian GP, beating Sebastian Vettel in qualifying, however both are facing possible penalties for qualy infractions. Qualifying at the Interlagos circuit began with a threat of rain in the air and heavy dark clouds overhead. That led to the drivers immediately taking to the circuit with Ferrari and Mercedes vying for P1 before Max Verstappen stepped in on his RB14. He was quickest in Q1 while – with a few drops of rain falling – Carlos Sainz was the surprise exit, dropping out along with birthday boy Brendon Hartley, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll and Stoffel Vandoorne.
