Zak Brown pays tribute to departing Alonso: 'He continues to perform at the highest level'

McLaren CEO Zak Brown has praised his outgoing driver Fernando Alonso, who has announced that he will quit F1 at the end of 2018. Alonso took to social media on Tuesday to announce that he has decided to quit Formula 1 at the end of the current season, after four frustrating years struggling to finish in the points. With McLaren currently going through a transitionary period with the change to Renault engines and the departure of senior staff such as Eric Boullier & Matt Morris, Alonso has opted to make a change, although there is no official word on what he is setting off to do next.
