Mercedes: Bottas lost five percent downforce in France 

Valtteri Bottas lost around five percent downforce from his Formula 1 car during the French Grand Prix, data collated by Mercedes has revealed.  Bottas was pitched into a spin after being hit by Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari at Turn 1 on the opening lap at Paul Ricard, leaving him to limp back to the pits with a punctured rear-left tyre.  The Finn suffered further damage to his floor as he spent a full lap fighting to get his F1 car back to the pits, which in turn hampered his efforts of pulling off a recovery drive that ultimately culminated in an seventh place finish.  5774263478001 CrashTV:  “The simple answer is about five percent [downforce],” Mercedes trackside engineering...
