Williams team win the Canadian Grand Prix… raft race

< ► > The Williams team had reason to smile after they emerged triumphant in this year's edition of the Montreal Mechanic's Raft Race as their crew overcame stern challenges from their rival teams to post a well-deserved victory. Last year Liberty Media re-introduced the infamous raft race for mechanics and team staff after qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, reviving a tradition that went out of fashion in the nineties. McLaren won the event last year. All teams except for Ferrari – by choice of their own mechanics – take part in the fun and frolics on the St. Lawrence River that surrounds the Ile Notre Dame, venue for this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.
