Plans for Silverstone to host 1,00th Grand Prix are abolished
Plans for Silverstone to host the 1,000th Grand Prix have been abandoned after Liberty Media were warned about the British weather. The 2019 season, dubbed as the ‘year of the 1,000th Grand Prix’ will see Formula 1 surpass the milestone. It’ll be just the 3rd race on the calendar when the counter adds a fourth figure. Plans were made for the race calendar to be altered so that Silverstone, the location of the first ever Grand Prix, could host the 1,000th fixture. But according to Liberty Media, this has been altered. “Silverstone was the first Grand Prix and we would have liked to see the 1,000th go back to the first,” Bratches told Reuters. ...
