Bottas fastest, McLaren debut the hyper soft tyre – Test Day Two Morning Report

Testing – Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas topped the charts for lap time and lap count as McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne gave the hyper soft tyres their track debut. Following the many temperature-related complaints after day one of testing, teams were greeted by even colder conditions on day two. Teams were faced with little option but to continue to assess their 2018 challengers in these unrepresentative conditions, but there was some reluctance in the morning session. As a result of their tentativeness, the official lunch break was cancelled so teams could maximise track time during what was likely to be the warmest part of the day.
