Schumacher’s F1 title-winning Ferrari sells for $7.5m

Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F2001 which he drove to the Formula 1 world title has sold for over $7.5 million at a New York auction. The 2001 F1 world drivers’ and constructors' championship-winning car was put up for auction at Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening Sale in New York with the winning bid standing at $7,504,000 – almost double initial estimates. Schumacher won nine out of the 17 races with the F2001, plus 11 pole positions and three fastest laps, as the German stormed to his fourth F1 world title and second with Ferrari.
