Russell set for Force India reserve driver role

Force India is closing on a deal to make Mercedes protege George Russell its reserve driver for the 2018 Formula 1 season. The newly-crowed GP3 champion made his F1 grand prix weekend debut in Friday's opening practice session for the Brazilian Grand Prix when he drove Sergio Perez's Force India. He completed 29 laps and finished the session 12th fastest, six tenths slower than teammate and fellow Mercedes junior Esteban Ocon. Discussions are ongoing with Mercedes, with Force India keen to secure Russell's services for the long-term.
