Halo gets first run at 2017 race weekend

– Three drivers have given the 'halo' device its first run at a Grand Prix this season after trialling the system during practice at Spa-Francorchamps on Friday morning.Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne and Sauber's Marcus Ericsson all completed early installation laps with the device fitted to their respective cars.It comes after Mercedes-backed GP3 driver George Russell ran a modified version of the halo during in-season testing in Hungary earlier this month.The halo, which wraps around the cockpit in the form of three struts, will be mandatory in F1 next year, with the FIA having pledged to increase head protection available for drivers.It was initially...
