Formula 1 recruits Nielsen as Sporting Director

– Formula 1 has appointed Steve Nielsen as Sporting Director, working within the Motorsport Division, with the Briton to take up his new role on August 1.Nielsen has worked for an array of Formula 1 teams across several decades in the sport, most recently at Williams, whom he joined at the end of 2014.Williams announced earlier in the year that Nielsen would stand down from his role as Sporting Manager at the end of July, citing a desire to travel less, with McLaren's Dave Redding appointed as his successor.Nielsen will now move to a role with Formula 1, and will report directly to Ross Brawn, who was installed as Managing Director (Motorsports) upon Liberty Media's acquisition of...
