Whiting: Cockpit protection call next month

– F1 Race Director Charlie Whiting says a decision over whether extra cockpit protection – such as the halo – will be introduced for the 2018 season is to be made in late April.F1 has been pushing to increase head protection in the sport, with the halo, which wraps around the cockpit in the form of three struts, favoured by governing body the FIA.It initially looked set to introduce the halo for 2017, but this was delayed by a year, with further testing taking place during practice sessions over the course of last season.A decision on introducing it in 2018 is now expected next month."We will take a decision in late April," Whiting said during a press briefing in...
