Former Formula 1 driver Mika Salo says Valtteri Bottas has been put in a “very difficult situation” by only being given a one-year deal at Mercedes - but has tipped his compatriot to deliver and secure his long-term future. Bottas was signed by Mercedes last month as replacement for retiring world champion Nico Rosberg, but his deal is only fixed for one year with options to extend it beyond that.
