Silverstone lifted by Liberty Media F1 deal

– Derek Warwick, President of the British Racing Drivers' Club, owners of Silverstone, says the arrival of Liberty Media as F1's new owners will help secure the long-term future of the British Grand Prix.Silverstone chiefs had intimated that an option in its contract, which allows the circuit to drop the race after 2019, could be activated before the 2017 running of the event.However, Liberty Media's took over the sport on Monday, replacing long-time CEO Bernie Ecclestone with Chase Carey, and installing Ross Brawn and Sean Bratches in senior roles.Carey swiftly made clear that the British Grand Prix would remain on the calendar beyond 2019, and Warwick is sure that the changing...
