Pascal Wehrlein: Young Mercedes driver joins Sauber for 2017 season

Sauber have announced young Mercedes driver Pascal Wehrlein will drive for them in 2017. The news is the precursor to Valtteri Bottas replacing Nico Rosberg at Mercedes following the world champion's retirement. The Finn will be replaced at Williams by Brazilian Felipe Massa, who has postponed his retirement announced last season. Wehrlein, 22, will partner Swede Marcus Ericsson at the Swiss team. It will be Wehrlein's second season in Formula 1, after he drove for Manor in 2016. Sauber team boss Monisha Kaltenborn said: "Pascal has shown his talent throughout his career.
