German GP dropped for 20-race 2017 F1 calendar

Formula One’s governing body confirmed a slightly shortened calendar for the 2017 season, following the meeting held in Vienna by the World Motor Sport Council on Wednesday, with the German Grand Prix getting the axe following its troublesome financial issues. Despite German Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg winning the championship this season, in a German car, and with four-time champion Sebastian Vettel continuing his trade at Ferrari, the country with the long-standing Nurbrgring and Hockenheim circuits has been unable to sustain audiences.
