Rosberg hit with grid penalty

Austrian Grand Prix – Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg has received a five-place grid penalty for a gearbox after crashing out of third and final practice ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix. The Formula 1 championship leader had a suspension failure on the left rear of his W06 when riding over a kerb on the exit of Turn 2.  The car spun and hit the barrier damaging his car considerably. The resulting damage forced the team to replace the entire gearbox unit ahead of qualifying. Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Paddy Lowe, Mercedes technical director said: 'He was full throttle on the kerb at the point where he lost the rear end, so we're looking into that.
