Sainz ruled out of 2017 driver market

Toro Rosso and Red Bull have signed Carlos Sainz ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, and the Spaniard is now off the driver market for 2017. Currently this season, Sainz has scored 18 points and finished a career best 6th position in Spain, which led to rumours around the paddock about his future and other teams' interest in him. Any speculation was silenced as Red Bull extended the 21-year-old's contract to continue for another season. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner stated: 'We took up his option earlier this week, so he is committed to Red Bull for an extra 12 months.'
