Toro Rosso retains Sainz Jr. for 2017

Red Bull/Getty Images Carlos Sainz Jr. will remain with Toro Rosso for the 2017 season, extending his stay with the team for a third campaign. Sainz Jr. has been backed by Red Bull throughout his single-seater career and won the Formula Renault 3.5 championship in 2014, resulting in a gradutation to Formula 1 with Toro Rosso. Sainz Jr. finished 15th in last year's championship and amassed 18 points, with a best finish of seventh at the United States Grand Prix. This season, the 21-year-old Spaniard has finished five of the eight Grands Prix in the points, with a best result of sixth at his home event.
