Alonso: Radio ban makes no sense with “spaceship” technology

McLaren’s Fernando Alonso has hit out at the current ban on certain pit-to-car radio messages, following Lewis Hamilton’s struggles in the European Grand Prix. Hamilton suffered a lack of power from his Mercedes being in the wrong setting to deploy its full electrical energy deployment. But his engineers on the pitwall were powerless to advise him on how to fix it. “From the beginning this rule was not making much sense,” said Alonso. “They give us a spaceship to drive, with the technology we have, and now we have no information available. “Sometimes it’s difficult to know what is happening with the car, and what solution to do. Maybe in the future we can address this.”...
