Numerous yellow flags encountered qualifying – McLaren A disappointing afternoon for both Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button, who qualified 14th and 19th respectively for tomorrow’s European Grand Prix – the first Formula 1 race around the demanding and unforgiving Baku City Circuit. During an extremely busy session, punctuated by incident and yellow flags, neither driver was able to run comfortably. In Q1, Jenson flat-spotted locking up into Turn 15, then wasn’t able to find a clear lap once the tyres had recovered.
