Hamilton surprised by points shift in title race

Lewis Hamilton says he is surprised by the size of the points swing after winning the Monaco Grand Prix and seeing F1 championship leader Nico Rosberg slip to seventh to see the deficit effectively halved in one race. The defending F1 champion is keen to take the momentum of a first win in nine races into the middle third of the season and feels having a mistake-free campaign will be key to closing the gap to Rosberg who saw him lead slashed from 43 points to 24. “I did not expect the points to have shifted as much as they have,” Hamilton said. “Of course we have a long, long way to go and I think these past five races have just shown that anything is possible and more so than not on...
