Rosberg’s engine mode switch error cause lap 1 crash – Mercedes

Rosberg’s steering wheels – 2016 Mercedes W07 Mercedes have confirmed Nico Rosberg was in the wrong engine switch on his steering wheel, at the start of the Spanish Grand Prix cause to the dramatic DNF of both Mercedes on the very first lap of the race. Hamilton and Rosberg set their cars into a ‘launch mode’ a power unit mapping setting that ensures the best getaway and Energy Recovery System (ERS) deployment off the line. After the turn 3 both drivers select ‘race mode’ but Rosberg failed to select his mode properly, hit the overtake button (top left – orange button marked OT).
