FIA WMSC approves extra Pirelli test days

– The FIA's World Motor Sport Council has approved Pirelli's request to conduct substantial track testing across the next few years.Pirelli, which has been Formula 1's sole tyre supplier since 2011, wanted extra test days in order to better prepare its rubber, in anticipation of major changes to the regulations next season.Under 2016 regulations, Pirelli was permitted 12 days of testing but this has now been increased to 25, and has been formally ratified by the WMSC."The further testing was deemed to be essential for the purpose of developing the new tyre sizes permitted by the 2017 F1 Technical Regulations," read a statement released by the WMSC."The changes will...
