Rosberg takes pole position in China, Hamilton hits trouble

Nico Rosberg has stormed to pole position for the Chinese Grand Prix after setting the pace in qualifying at the Shanghai International Circuit. The Chinese Grand Prix marked the return to the old 2015 format, following two unsuccessful attempts with the elimination-style system in Australia and Bahrain. Rosberg made it through to Q3 and put in a 1:35.402 to go quickest in the final moments. Mercedes will start from the very front and the very back of the grid after Lewis Hamilton was eliminated in Q1. He failed to set a time after an ERS issue and will start from the final row.
