Lowe confident over 2017 head protection

– Mercedes' Paddy Lowe says research into improving head protection for drivers has "accelerated" and he believes that a solution could be introduced as early as next year.Improving head protection for drivers has been a focus in recent years, with a few ideas demonstrated, the most recent being the 'halo' cockpit, in a bid to prevent single-seater racers from injury.It came under the spotlight once more following the deaths of Jules Bianchi and Justin Wilson, the latter having been struck by debris from another car during an IndyCar race in 2015."Since I first came into Formula 1 in the late 1980s, the advancements in safety have been substantial," said Lowe,...
