Engine changes for McLaren – no penalties

Hungarian Grand Prix – Both McLaren drivers have taken new power units for the Hungarian Grand Prix, but neither will pick up a penalty. Both McLaren drivers Fernando Alonso & Jenson Button have taken new Honda power units for this weekend's action in Hungary, but neither will take a penalty. This is due to McLaren being granted a ‘free engine' change without penalty in a recent rule change. The rule change states that while existing engine manufacturers must use just four power units over the course of the year, a new engine manufacturer will be permitted a slightly more lenient five for their first season. This rule was retrospectively applied to Honda, who made their debut...
