Hamilton beats Rosberg to Austrian GP pole
Lewis Hamilton took pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix ahead of Mercedes AMG PETRONAS team-mate Nico Rosberg in a dramatic qualifying session at the Red Bull Ring that ended with both drivers spinning off the track. Hamilton set a best time of 1m08.455s during the final part of qualifying, but then spun at turn one whilst trying to better his time. Rosberg on the other hand had set a time of 1m08.655s but made his own mistake at the final corner, ending up beached in the gravel trap. Despite their respective incidents, both Mercedes drivers had done enough to lock out the front row of the grid, with Saturday morning’s free practice pace setter Sebastian Vettel unable to do any...
