Vettel handed five place grid penalty

Scuderia Ferrari Sebastian Vettel has been handed a five place grid penalty and points on his licence after being found to have passed Roberto Merhi during a red flag period. Saturday's final practice session was stopped when Felipe Nasr crashed on the back straight but Vettel passed Merhi on the approach to the hairpin. Stewards slapped Vettel with a grid sanction and also awarded him three penalty points, his first since the new system was introduced in 2014. Vettel qualified in 16th position and is therefore set to start from the rear of the grid.
