Wolff apologises to Hamilton for pit error

Mercedes AMG Petronas Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has apologised to Lewis Hamilton after a controversial decision to pit the World Champion during the closing stages of the Monaco Grand Prix. Hamilton had led throughout and held a 20 second advantage over team-mate Nico Rosberg when the Safety Car was deployed following Max Verstappen's accident. Mercedes opted to pit Hamilton for fresh tyres but a time misjudgement handed the lead to Rosberg, while Hamilton emerged from the pits in third position.
